Located not far from the banks of the Ardèche in the Pont d’Aubenas district, the swimming pool at the Hippocampe Aquatic Centre is open all year round. Here’s a closer look at the pool, its opening hours, activities and other practical information for your visit.

L’Hippocampe Aquatic Centre

The Monts et Vallées d’Ardèche aquatic centre, L’Hippocampe, which has been based in Aubenas since 2015, is run by the Communauté de communes du Bassin d’Aubenas (SEMVA*). With its two indoor pools, it aims to provide facilities tailored to families, schools and sports enthusiasts all year round.

This indoor facility, which is open all year round, should not be confused with the municipal swimming pool* in the centre of Aubenas, which is open only during the summer months, between June and August.

Facilities and swimming pools

The Hippocampe Aquatic Centre in Aubenas has two swimming pools:

• Competition pool: 25 metres long, 1.80 metres deep, 5 lanes.
• Recreational pool: 150 m², with a depth ranging from 0.60 to 1.30 metres, featuring bubble benches and massage jets.

In addition, you will also find:

• A small children’s play area with water features, a mushroom-shaped structure and a slide
• Changing rooms, lockers (coin-operated or €1 coin), showers, toilets
• Vending machines (hats, glasses, sweets, drinks)
• Ladies’/Gents’ toilets

Supervision, safety and hygiene

Supervision is provided by lifeguards. Swimming caps are compulsory, as is showering with soap before entering the water. Swimming shorts and swimming trunks are not permitted.

Please note that the pools close 15 minutes before closing time, and the last admission is 45 minutes before closing time.

Activities and clubs

A swimming club runs sessions tailored to children’s ability levels and ages. Private lessons are available. Other activities are offered throughout the year, including aqua fitness classes, courses and baby swimming sessions. Please enquire at reception during opening hours.

Location and access to Aubenas

The Hippocampe Aquatic Centre is located at 1 Chemin du Coton, 07200 Aubenas. It is situated in the Roqua district, not far from the gym of the same name.

Lines 2, 3 and 7 of the Albenassien Tout en Bus network provide access by public transport. Car parking is available within the swimming pool grounds and in the surrounding area.

The aquatic centre is accessible to people with reduced mobility: level access, adapted pathways, reserved spaces and mobility aids.
